Bad Gastein is a stunningly beautiful spa town located in the Austrian state of Salzburg. Lucky enough, paired with lovely spas, the town of just under 6,000 inhabitants is situated right on the northern rim of the High Tauern National Park. The town is nestled in the slopes of the Gastein Valley, with historic multi-story hotels that open up to beautiful views of the valleys below. Thanks to Theophrastus Paracelsus and other iconic locals, the studies conducted on the natural springs in town have led all the way up to being able to conduct radon inhalation therapy, which soothes ailments like arthritis. Aside from its clearly healing amenities, this destination is also sought out for its winter activities like skiing.

Location: Nature at Every Turn

Located in Salzburg, at the head of the Gastein valley, Bad Gastein is about 1,000 meters above sea level, making the area ideal for snowy winters and cooler seasons. At this high above sea level, visitors can expect views of fog-free elevation in the mountains, where breathing fresh air is never a challenge to attain. Because of its location, this town typically only has two seasons, winter and summer.

Business: Winter Sports and Spa

As the town is primarily a holiday destination, travelers will find that both seasons are typically busy with visitors who are there for some outdoor fun and then spa pampering. The town is known for offering stunning slopes for skiers, beautiful accommodation nestled on the mountains, and healing waters from the natural springs, along with top-of-the-line spas for those who need a little bit extra love and care.

Culture: Action and Thrill Seekers

Being located in such a natural setting with wind, water, and sun, it is only innate that the inhabitants are just as relaxed as their surroundings can keep them. Back then, when the locals were exploring the area, they stumbled upon many fascinating and truly rich resources that are still being used to heal the many visitors who continue to come back for the great guest service and natural healing methods of the town’s precious resources.

Activities: Spa, Sports, and More

As many may have found out by now, health and wellness is key for the locals and visitors who come for those particular reasons. Learn the incredible history behind the Gastein Heilstollen therapy, and you will be convinced enough to try it yourself. The health improvement after taking part in this natural health program is quite effective on chronic musculoskeletal issues. Many other spas offer thermal pools for ultimate relaxation. Travelers also come for the winter activities in the slopes. If not up for skiing, the countryside of Gastein Valley is absolutely magical, even for simple hikes to view the panoramic scenic views of the High Tauern Range.
