With picture-postcard scenery amidst the Tyrolean Alps, it is as popular in summer as it is in winter for outdoor enthusiasts and lovers of nature. It is the centre of the World Championships for Nordic Skiing and has held many world-class events, including the Winter Olympic Games, in past years. Seefeld has many opportunities for the visitor to relax, with restaurants, bars, and clubs, as well as a casino, in which to spend fun and enjoyable evenings. In late spring and summer, the hills and mountains around the village are renowned for the wild flowers and stunning landscapes that are seen at every turn along the 450 kilometres of hiker's trails and over 250 kilometres of Nordic walking paths that are easily accessible.

Location: 1,200 metres high, in the heart of the Tyrol

Innsbruck Airport, just 20 kilometres to the east, is the arrival point for many international visitors to the village. It is then only a short bus or car trip on the E60 and 171 roads through some spectacular scenery. The region offers some of the best ski trails in the world, which are easily reached from this base in the mountains.

Culture: Take a pilgrimage to the church of St. Oswald

In 1384, the Knight Oswald Milser entered the church during Mass and demanded to be given the Holy offering of the Eucharist. With sword drawn and a frightening figure, the priest gave him what he wished. The story has it that he fell to his knees, grasping the altar has he did so. Where he touched the floor and altar, imprints were left as he grappled with his sinful act. He immediately repented and confessed all of his sins, and until his death two years later, he continued to his penance and gave much of his wealth to the small church where he was buried and that now bears his name. The church has been expanded over the years to account for the number of pilgrims to the site, and you can still see the imprints in the altar and on the floor where the errant knight was struck down.

Activities: An outdoor enthusiasts paradise

Winter sports are the main attraction for the area, with millions of visitors flocking to the region to experience the excellent pistes and cross-country routes. Situated in the middle of the Austrian Alps means the village is easily accessible from a variety of towns and villages, and it attracts many daytime visitors. Staying in the village means you can experience the renowned nightlife of the bars and clubs, and attempt to win some of your money back at the top quality casino.
