Serfaus boasts a plethora of outdoor activities on the ground, in the water, and in the air. It has become one of the most popular skiing and activity resorts in Tyrol. The village dates back 4,000 years, and remains of Pre-Roman and Celtic origin have been uncovered long ago, with hints suggesting the region was conquered by the Romans in 15 BC. In 1983, the air-cushion funicular underground railway was opened. It is the world's smallest and highest air-cushion railway, and can transport 1,500 persons an hour. There are four stops enroute, providing easy access to all parts of the village and skiing routes around the area.

Location: A stepping stone to fun and frolics all year round

The village is located on a plateau at the highest part of the Inn Valley. Situated west of Innsbruck in the Tyrol region of Austria, the village is easily reached in 1 hour by car from Innsbruck Airport. Surrounded by mountains and spectacular scenery, this area is very popular with visitors from near and far, all year round.

Culture: If you go in search of culture, then look no further

Enjoy a visit to the gallery in the village - Galerie am Kirchplatz - where you can discover paintings from a whole host of artists as well as pottery and sculptures. There is a multitude of bars and restaurants to suit all palettes, from regional delights to international classics. And the village boasts a series of quaint artisan shops, too. In December, enjoy the Christmas market and the Snow Festival.

Activities: An endless array of outdoor fun for all

The village offers a whole host of activities to suit all tastes. Off the water, you can choose from Nordic walking, climbing, horseback riding, and paragliding. Cycle along the famous Via Claudia Augusta, an ancient Roman road, which spans Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. There are over 500 km of paths to enjoy! Walk the Reschen Pass, which runs along the border of Italy and Austria, or get your adrenaline fix on the River Inn. How about trying your hand at white water rafting, rafting, and canyoning? In winter, the village comes alive with winter sport enthusiasts who enjoy the skiing, snow shoeing, tobogganing, and cross-country skiing opportunities, followed by decent Après-ski.
