Vancouver is a relatively new city – it has not even been around for 150 years. During its short existence, it has built a reputation as one of the most important economic hubs in the world, and one that offers an incredible quality of life. It is a major seaport, which makes it a primary destination for international trade in North America. Vancouver has a much milder climate than many other big cities in Canada, allowing you to ski and have fun at the beach in one day. It offers a great restaurant and bar scene, is home to popular sports teams, and prides itself in modern culture with museums, clubs, and film locations.

Location: A coastal metropolis in British Colombia

The bustling seaport is located on the Burrard Peninsula, surrounded by the Burrard Inlet and the Fraser River. It has strong transport links, which includes three international airports, as well as railway and bus lines that connect the city with other major cities in both Canada and the U.S. The American-Canadian border lies about 45 kilometres south of downtown Vancouver.

Business: This port city means business

Due to its ideal location as the access point to the Pacific Rim, Vancouver is one of the most important places for industry in Canada. A great deal of international trade happens here, and the Port of Vancouver is one of the major transhipment centres in North America. There is a growing technology sector as well, with software development companies choosing headquarters here.

Culture: A new take on Shakespeare

Vancouver is home to a different kind of festival – Bard on the Beach. Located on the waterfront of the city’s Vanier Park, temporary tents are erected that stage Shakespeare performances in front of thousands of spectators. The Vancouver Art Gallery and the museums of the Kitsilano District should be on the list of any visitor as well.

Activities: Discover Vancouver's craft beers

Vancouver has an extraordinary brewery scene and the best way of exploring all the incredible beers of Vancouver is by going on a Breweries Tour. Music lovers can choose from classic to punk and rock, and sports fans can either cheer at their favourite team or become active themselves—in the water, on the ice, or on the ball courts.
