Brno is the second-largest city in the Czech Republic, beyond which lie South Moravia's fertile vineyards. A cultural and administrative centre and a university town, the majority of Brno's citizens speak English. The city has not yet been overrun by tourists, making it an authentic representation of Czech culture without the inflated prices. Business travellers staying in a Brno hotel can enjoy a dynamic and enabling business and technology hub conveniently situated between Prague and Vienna.

What is different about the town?

Brno has a thousand-year-old history. Within the Old Town Hall you can find a two-metre-long dragon, ostensibly installed there to protect the building. Besides the local beer and wine that attract international visitors to the Czech Republic, 'Kofola' is a speciality in the city. This Coke-like soft drink is flavoured with herbal supplements and liquorice.

What can I expect from business life here?

Brno is home to two major business parks, one of which is focused specifically on technology. The city is enjoying a period of economic prosperity and expansion. This is evident in its business parks, which offer an impressive range of business support services. Close to Vienna (just an hour and a half by rail) and well connected by ergonomic infrastructure to other commercial centres in the region, Brno's business parks are a natural pit stop for executives in the Czech Republic. Prague is just two hours' drive away, making regular commutes to and from Brno totally feasible.

What else can I do near my Brno hotel?

Brno hotels sit within a beautiful, historic centre with monuments dating back to the 11th century. A proliferation of Renaissance- and Baroque-style buildings will amaze visitors to the city. One of the most important of these structures is the stunning cathedral which sits atop Petrov, or 'Peter Mountain'. Make sure you check out Tugendhat Villa, which is recognised as a UNESCO World Culture Site. Czech beer and wine flow freely in the city's bars, and the local food speciality is pork with dumplings and sauerkraut. More culture is available at the Moravian Gallery, the country's second-largest gallery, while Kunsthaus Brno shows Eastern art and photography. There are two theatres and several more museums in the city. A must-see is the city's functionalist museum, which is located in the atmospheric Spilberk Fortress.
