Belfort is located in the Franche-Comté region of north-eastern France, between Strasbourg and Lyon. The town is situated on the Savoureuse river, a route which lies between the Rhine and the Rhône rivers. The town is home to heavy industry, mainly related to trains and gas turbine production.
