Located in the far north of France, close to the Belgian border, Lille is the capital of the Hauts-de-France region. Its economy is focused around finance as well as the thriving food, mechanical and textile manufacturing industries. It’s also a popular holiday destination, due to its charming architecture, markets and fine dining establishments. Book a hotel in Lille and discover a city that's equally suited to business and leisure.

What makes Lille so appealing as a city?

Lille sits on the banks of the Deûle River and is under an hour’s drive from Ghent in Belgium. It’s home to some of the country’s best architecture, with the Maison de l’Architecture hosting many important events. Glass towers give way to classical French buildings that also incorporate Flemish influences. The modern Euralille quarter was developed in the 1980s as a centre for European business and is home to the Grand Palais Conference Centre. It’s also perfectly placed, with high-speed rail access to Paris, Brussels and London. You'll find excellent shopping here and an array of upmarket dining venues that are the ideal settings for that all-important business lunch.

Where are the main business events held near my hotel in Lille?

The Grand Palais is the hub for conventions, conferences and expos with events including the REV International Business, the French Society for Emergency Medicine and the RetMo Retail and Mobile conferences. The nearby Tripostal Centre and Hotel ibis Lille Centre Gares are also centrally located and offer further meeting spaces for business events. Traditionally an industrial city, manufacturing is still important but the service industry has gradually taken over. Large businesses based in Lille include Auchan, EDF, Crédit Agricole and BNP Paribas.
