The picture perfect spa town of Bad Aibling is nestled in the lush green valleys of Bavaria, and has a long standing history of providing rejuvenating treatments. The charming town was given the title Bad–meaning spa or spring in German–in 1895 to celebrate 50 years of offering special mud treatments to cure back and joint complaints. In the centre is an expansive park that serves as a city oasis where visitors find two indoor swimming pools, a sauna, and modern spa house offering a variety of treatments—together with the traditional peat pulp of course. Visit the folklore museum to discover 2,000 years of history, or head for the hills and enjoy the tranquillity of nature in the region’s beautiful surroundings.

Location: On the banks of the Mangfall and Glonn

Bad Aibling is located on two rivers, the Mangfall and Glonn, 50 kilometres south-east of Munich and 40 km north of Kufstein in Austria. A charming Bavarian spa town, it is easily reached by road or rail with regular regional trains running from Rosenheim and Holzenkirchen.

During the war, Bad Aibling was used by the notorious SS, and you can learn about events in this peaceful town in the Heimatmuseum, a folklore museum, together with the city’s illustrious history dating as far back as the Celtics around 300 AD. The thriving art scene is often the basis for cultural events, and the city hosts its fair share of concerts and festivals, including the three-day Echelon Open Air & Indoor Festival music festival that takes place in August.
