Bad Wildungen – Well Known Healing Center of Germany
Location: Spa City on the Foothills of the Kellerwald
This state-run spa is located in the Waldeck-Frankenberg district of Hesse in Germany. It is on the Timber-Frame Road in the eastern foothills of the Kellerwald range. The Wilde River crosses through town. There are regional train services from Kassel and Wabern to the town. It is also accessible by auto on the B 485 and B 253, which connect to the A 49.
Culture: Historical City with Beautiful Architecture
There are several museums in town to visit, including the spa museum, the local history museum, a mining museum, and the Museum for Military and Hunting History of the Kassel State Museums. There is also a mineral display at the Living Museum in Odershausen. Furthermore, there is architecture from throughout the town's history, including a beautiful Baroque stately home, the Schloss Friederichstein, which was built in the 18th century. The gothic Evangelical town church, built in the 14th century, features a winged altarpiece by Konrad von Soest.
Activities: The Largest Spa Park in Europe
This spa town features the largest spa park in Europe, which was created in the 1990,s when a man-made green bridge connected the Bad Wildungen spa park with the Reinhardshausen spa park. Nearby are the Odershausen Waterfalls and many other beautiful landscapes through which to hike. The Homberg, which stands at 518 meters, is the local mountain that offers panoramic views of the area. There is also a beautiful and unique forest known as Das Paradies with several hiking trails featuring gorgeous views. The Kellerwaldsteig, one of the best hiking trails in Germany, begins and ends in this town.
