Kaiserslautern, or K-Town as it is known by its large American expat population, is a city in southwest Germany near Luxembourg and the French border. Well known in Germany for its popular football team, Kaiserslautern is a university city that can be enjoyed by nature lovers, business professionals, sports lovers, and tourists. Containing the largest American military base outside of the United States, this city is known for its diverse cultural makeup. Visitors will have plenty to enjoy—from the famous Japanese Gardens to St. Martin’s Square and the popular deer park in Betzenberg. Location: Driving distance to France and Luxembourg

Kaiserslautern is located in southwest Germany, within an hour’s drive to France, Luxembourg, and its closest big city, Frankfurt. By car, one can easily reach the city via the A6 and A63 motorways or by train at the Kaiserslautern train station. If traveling by air, visitors have the option of arriving at Frankfurt, Hahn, Luxembourg, Saarbrücken, or Zweibrücken airports.

Home to a number of research centres and educational facilities, Kaiserslautern is a major location for national and international businesses. The PRE-Park building hosts a number of the city’s conferences in its primary sectors of information and communications technology, and the region is home to several large corporations, including Adam Opel AG and Freudenberg Vliesstoffe.

The centre for Kaiserslautern culture is none other than the Kammgarn, a historical monument and world-renowned music venue for national and international stars. The city is also home to FC Kaiserslautern, the very popular local football team who have been crowned German champions four times, and the Pfalztheater, a great attraction that puts on a range of plays, operas, ballets, and musical performances.
