Located just north of Frankfurt, Marburg is a breathtaking university town that embodies the kind of old-world Europe we all love to see. The Philipps University, which is the beating heart of the area, is the oldest Protestant university in the world, and is responsible for much of the social life and economic prosperity in the area. During WWII, all of Marburg was transformed into a hospital, and hence, was untouched by bombs and destruction. The result is a city that has been well preserved. Location: One-hour drive from Frankfurt Airport.

The city of Marburg can be found just north of Frankfurt, on the Lahn River. Access to the city can be achieved by air via Frankfurt International Airport, by car via the B3 motorway, or by train from Kassel or Frankfurt. Frankfurt Airport can be reached in about 1 hour from Marburg city centre.

This small town gains much of its economy from its main attraction, the Philipps University, which is responsible for the majority of jobs and businesses in the area.
