The city of Neuss can be found in North Rhine-Westphalia, at the gates of Dusseldorf, the capital of the German Federal State. It is easy to get around, since public transportation, such as buses and trams, is available. The nearest airport is Dusseldorf International Airport, which is only 30 minutes by car away from the city centre.

The “Botanischer Garten der Stadt Neuss” (municipal botanical garden) has beautiful flowers, plants, and shrubs. Enjoy the different varieties of exotic plants, such as large cacti and delicate orchids, stroll through the greenhouses, and stop by the aviary centre to view the birds. A walk through many areas of town is a history lesson on Roman architecture, as it is the oldest city in Germany. One of the largest shopping areas in Neuss is the downtown Rhein Park Centre. Almost every type of shop selling outerwear, flowers, household items, and cosmetics is located here. There are various expat and social clubs that meet in pubs or neighbourhood cafes. A popular festival that gathers a crowd is the “Schützenfest” or the Citizens Marksmen Festival. It is one of the largest expert shooters fairs in the world that consists of a lot of pomp and pageantry, including a parade and shooting. Over one million people travel to the festival each year in August.
