Stuttgart has been home to some of the best inventors in the world. Surrounded by green valleys and rich vineyards that offer peace for the busy mind, the automobile, the office photocopier, and the brassiere were invented here. As the capital of the German Federal State of Baden-Wurttemberg, it has a population of around 600,000. Well known as a leading exporter, this charming city has a lot to offer. It is home to an internationally acclaimed ballet, and houses the award winning State Opera House. This city has everything—from museums and a zoo to planetariums and churches, to parks, theatres, and festivals. It has over five outstanding universities and a marvelous network of famous institutes of biotechnology.

Location: Between forests and vines

Stuttgart is equidistant from the Black Forest and the Swabian Jura Mountains. The city center is a valley between vineyards and the forest. Stuttgart Airport echoes the importance of this city, as it is the sixth busiest airport in Germany. Most of the attractions in the city are in walking distances of each other, yet a well-established public transportation system in place.

Business: A hub of the automobile industry

Most of the companies in Stuttgart focus on automotive industry, electronics, and mechanical engineering, with Daimler, Porsche, and Bosch located here. The headquarters of Mercedes-Benz are based here as well. The famous VW Beetle had its very first prototype developed in Stuttgart. Furthermore, the city hosts famous research institutes, including Max Planck and Fraunhofer.

Culture: The city with the world’s first TV tower made of reinforced steel

Having a rich cultural history, Stuttgart has the world famous Mercedes-Benz and Porsche Museums. There are various towers across the city like Killesbergturm and Hauptbahnhof that offer stunning views of the city. The Schlossplatz is the largest square and the central point of the city. The internationally acclaimed Stuttgart Ballet is definitely one of the places that should be visited in the evening. There are different festivals conducted throughout the year, including the Volksfest and the Weindorf.

Activities: A city full of museums and parks

Wilhelma Zoo is a must-see for families for its architecture and landscaping. The Carl Zeiss Planetarium offers captivating astronomical shows. Most of the parks and gardens, of which many are u-shaped, are located around the city. Furthermore, the metropolis houses museums, including the Lindenmuseum, the Kunstmuseum, and the Wurttembergisches Landesmuseum.
