Nusa Dua – An Idyllic Beach Escape from Civilisation
Location: On the southern route to Jimbaran
Situated 40 kilometres south of Denpasar and 30 minutes from the lively tourist resort of Kuta, Nusa Dua is easy to reach. Transfer from Bail International Airport is around 20 or 30 minutes. The best way to get there is by taxi from outside the airport–unless you hire a car to explore the island.
Culture: Join in with the Balinese dancing
Other than the Museum Pacifika where you can learn the history of the South Pacific region and admire Bali art, there is little in the way of cultural activities in Nusa Dua. However, that is not to say you cannot sample local life by joining in with the Balinese dance evenings and sampling the local cuisine in authentic Bali restaurants. Although the resort bubble is typically geared towards tourists, you will still find a handful of Balinese restaurants serving traditional recipes.
Activities: Wildlife and natural Phenomenon
To take a break from your break, head to Water Blow where the sea hits the rocks in such a peculiar way, blowing up as though it has been spurted from a giant shoot at the foot of the ocean bed. The natural spectacle can be seen from a distance and naturally draws inquisitive tourists towards it. You should also check out Serangan Island or Turtle Island, a conservation area where you will find birds, snakes, bats, and of course the shelled reptiles for which the island is named after. If you are lucky, you may even witness a young turtle hatching or being released into the ocean. Nusa Dua also has several great golf courses that provide a challenge for keen golfers together with spectacular views.
