Kuwait City is located facing the turquoise waters of Kuwait Bay. It's from here that the city exports the oil on which the country has built its enormous wealth. It’s also a popular spot for private sailing boats. Many come to admire Kuwait’s striking modern architecture and explore its high-end shopping centres. There are many fine hotels in Kuwait City that cater to its major influx of business visitors every year.

What defines the character of Kuwait City?

A prosperous and truly international metropolis, Kuwait City has a densely packed yet pristine central business district. It’s here that you can admire its stunning buildings, such as the Kuwait Towers and the gold and blue Al Hamra Tower. Tourism plays a key role in the Kuwaiti economy, and the city caters to its global visitors with a range of international restaurants and luxury shops. Much of its leisure activity is centered around the bay, where you can enjoy boat tours, scuba diving or relaxing at one of the beach clubs.

Where are the expositions held in town?

The main business district starts at Kuwait Bay to the north and stretches down along its boulevards to the middle of the city. Most of the city's major business events are hosted at convention centres in this area, with the convention centres themselves housed inside luxury hotels. The city’s economy is largely oil-focused, but it also enjoys strong financial and IT sectors. That said, Kuwait is in fact in the top ten highest producing oil countries globally. The Kuwait Money Expo & Conference and IDC IT Forum are two of the many regular events in the city.

Where else should I go to make the most of booking my Kuwait City hotel?

You’ll enjoy a vast range of luxury shopping when you stay at a hotel in Kuwait City. Around the bay is a cluster of great shopping centres. These include the Gate and Discovery Malls, and the Souk Sharq, which offers a more traditional market experience. Along the Sheikh Zayed Highway running through the middle of town are many more shopping centres. Dining is equally diverse, and includes local specialities as well as European and Asian eateries. Le Sushi Bar on Jaber Al Mubarak Street is particularly popular for high-end cuisine, or try Khaneen, near the bay, for excellent quality local cuisine.
