Set on a hill above the Castilla-La Mancha plains of central Spain, Toledo is known as the city of three cultures, due to the medieval Arab, Jewish and Christian buildings in its old walled city. It is also renowned as being the home of the famous renaissance painter, El Greco and has been declared a World Heritage Site. The city boasts a thriving metal work industry, particularly around the production of traditional swords, whilst other craft industries such as glass and ceramics are prominent. Toledo is also conveniently located close to Spain's capital, Madrid, with the journey taking approx. one hour by car.
